Activities at The Anglican Church in Freiburg
The womens group (daytime)
This group is intended for women who are able to meet during the day and who
wish to study, pray and talk with one another. The group meets in private homes
at 10.00 twice a month. There are usually some small children to care for but
the group is open to women of all ages.
The womens prayer group (evening)
Women of all ages are welcome to join us when we meet on the 2nd Thursday of
each month from 20.00 - 22.00 in private homes. Through prayer we seek to deepen
our relationship with God as well as strengthen our sense of supporting and
caring for one another.
Roots and Shoots Bible Study Group
This group is open for anyone to attend at any time. We meet on the 1st and
3rd Thursdays of each month at 20.00 in the church.
Mens Breakfast
This group meets on the first Saturday of each month at the church at 08.00.
The purpose of the group is for men to get together, to enjoy a good breakfast
and to talk and pray together. We normally aim to finish by 09.30.
Singing group
We have a small singing group, open to anyone who enjoys singing, who help to introduce new songs to our worship. They meet to practice twice a month.
Informal prayer cells
There are a number of informally arranged prayer cells of two or three
people meeting regularly for mutual support.
Monday night prayer group
Each Monday evening throughout the year
we meet at 18.00 in the church to pray for the needs of our church community and
for any other concerns that we may have.
Amnesty International Group
This group meets monthly to support the work of Amnesty in seeking justice for all.
Weekend Retreat
Each year we hold an annual church retreat over one weekend. This is usually one of the highlights of our community life together.
Quiet Days
Once or twice a year we have a quiet day at Haus Lindenburg near St. Peter. These are opportunities for quiet prayer and contemplation.
Bazaar
Each year shortly before Easter we hold a fund raising bazaar to support our church finances. It is very much a team effort by the whole church community.
Freunde von der Strasse
We join with the Old Catholic and Methodist congregations once a year to invite
the homeless and isolated to lunch and afternoon tea in St. Martin’s parish
hall.
